ABOUT KATIE
I grew up on Cape Cod, Massachusetts and I have always felt a connection to the ocean because it is a place that I can self-regulate. I am passionate about this work in Self-Regulation and I am thrilled to share these skills with adolescents and their families here in Sonoma County.
I started my career working with adolescents in 2003, as a Middle School teacher in San Francisco. In 2007, I attended graduate school at Dominican University and received my Master’s in Counseling Psychology in 2011. I joined the Center for Innovative DBT (Mindfit Therapy), a private practice, located in Marin County from 2011-2018. I worked with Michelle Mazza, LMFT, as an Intern and became a licensed clinican in 2015. I was Foundationally trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy through Behavioral Tech in 2012. In private practice, I worked with adolescents and their families and ran DBT Skill Groups. I also worked with parents by helping them to develop DBT skills using the Middle Path. I returned to the school environment and worked with SAY (Social Advocates for Youth), in Santa Rosa, as a School Mental Health Clinician from 2018-2019. I am excited to return to private practice and to have an office in Petaluma. I am continuing my passion in supporting clients and their families with developing Emotion Regulation skills and I am currently becoming Foundationally trained in Self-Reg through the MEHRIT Center, which was developed by Dr. Stuart Shanker and Dr. Susan Hopkins. For refuel and relaxation, I enjoy hanging out with my family and our chocolate lab, Bina and exploring the beaches and woods of California in our RV.
